i dunno, i mean what’s the point if they don’t intend to make something out of it
some people are just pleased with their work as it is, and others are pleased with admiring it as it is, and tbh i think that’s fine
your critique is better saved for someone who actually intends to earn money for their efforts
I agree man. If someone’s just doing art because they enjoy it and without really caring about skill level, then just leave them and their art alone. If they don’t want to improve that’s their issue and they’ll either regret it later or not; give your critiques to someone who does want them instead of wasting your breath (and in this case your frustrations) on the hopeless.
Triple agree. There are all sorts of reasons to draw. One persons perspective on improving maybe drastically different then another. Then there is the whole concept of outsider art and artists who work hard to not improve as a form expression if you can wrap your head around that.
The point is worry about your shit and stop worrying about other people so damn much. If that person your critic gives 2 shits about your opinion chances are they will seriously consider it, due mostly to the fact that they respect you. The only thing that happens when someone isn’t receptive to critic is they do not improve in the direction the critic has laid out. See how selfish the critic is in this situation.
I have the exact opposite issue with critics… the ones who demand they be listened to about every single nit pic. As an artist, you get to chose how you form your art. You listen to people if you value their opinion or if their critic has a ring of truth about something you care about. You do not simply accept critic and work around every single fucking nit-picky comment because someone found some issue and wants validation for “Noticing” something.
