And I just wanna say you where a big help!♥
I am glad things are going smoothly buddy.
As some of you know or have noticed i’ve been quieter as Onta in the past year or so. It’s interesting because the very reason I started drawing under onta is the same reason I seeked to redefine myself again under a new name (Doxy for those interested). http://mldoxy.deviantart.com/ http://mylittledoxy.tumblr.com/
So for some history… Around 2006 I had issues with my art. I was competitive and tried to draw “everything” and just left me unhappy with un-inspired art. At some point I cam across some Flashpoint and Poju art that really kicked my ass into picking a theme and really sticking to it. I created onta to explore the themes, mostly gay sexy horsies. I found I flourished in a more limited and focused environment. Moving forward i kept drawing and eventually created characters (Devin) then Marty and the Gang. I have Miu to thank for Marty whom I created for Cocktails. His input and feedback really helped define them right off the bat and I believe was helpful in making them well liked. After a few years (about 4) I felt a bit of a roadblock. The small environment I had created for Onta to help explore its edges and feel more confident in what I was doing had begun suffocating my art. Between the requirements needed to run HB and the limited nature of what people wanted for commissions (usually femboys), I felt my art was starting to suffer. Refusing to be in a situation where I wasn’t improving and exploring art as best I could I had decided to explore art under a new name without the expectations or demands that had started wilt my creativity as Onta.
Starting from scratch I started something new. Focusing on fun shapes of MLP ponies then moving over to female human and some human traps\futa. I don’t regret doing this at all. I feel it’s really pushed my art forward in a way that I couldn’t have done isolating my art under Onta. Basically I needed to redefine my space and explore it from the ground up again and push against the edges. I seem to work best in this sort of environment. Onta saved me from going stale the first time then Doxy helped me from that fate again.
That all being said I want to explore furry again this year in more depth. Right now with my new Marty comic i’m exploring more toony expressions and more vivid interaction between my characters. I hope this is something the fans like. I’m also on the fence between continuing to explore the Marty\Devin angle or trying something completely new. It’s a tough call. I know eventually I will retire them, but i’d like to do that in a big bang by creating a large project before it comes to and end.
Some thoughts for ya’ll curious about me and what I’ve been up to. I’m truly gracious that the fandom has allowed me to continue to expand and grow this concept and helped me improve so much. Pretty much without you i’d be in a job I hate growing old and stressed.
